do you remember when we promised you 20 billion?

October 25, 2010

Italy, which is incidentally my country, which I am generally not particularly proud of and never proves me wrong, has announced that will cut its development cooperation assistance by 45% in 2011.

Accounting for the costs associated with running its International Cooperation Department this will leave an annual budget of roughly 100 million euros.

Now, how much it is 100 million euros?

It is 4 times less the annual budget of Medecins Sans Frontieres.

It is less than the first prize for the Italian Lottery winner.

It is the annual revenue from selling Colosseo tickets.

It is how much the farmers of Regione Veneto will get in subsidies from the European Union this year.

By the way, have a look at how much the UK is spending instead.
